Grupo Boticário career

Three years, three roles

I joined Grupo Boticário in October 2023 as an intern on the analytics engineering team for MAE — the group's machine-learning product for purchase suggestion. By December 2025, I had been promoted to Senior Analytics Engineer on the same product.

  1. Data Engineering Intern

    I started as an intern on the MAR data engineering team — working on compra inteligente, the purchase-suggestion product at the heart of the team. Same team, same product, for the next three years.

    Most of what I learned in this stage came from watching how senior teammates prioritized work and shipped under pressure. I wasn't just completing tasks — I was learning how analytics engineering work becomes something production can rely on.

    Along the way I picked up the Boticário data stack:

    • BigQuery
    • Airflow

  2. Mid Analytics Engineer

    After a long stretch as an intern, my deliveries started carrying more scope — including complex work that needed an efficient solution on a short timeline.

    My scope grew into owning complex pipeline work on compra inteligente — MAR's core product — debugging production issues, shipping changes under pressure, and learning the Boticário data ecosystem fast enough to operate ahead of my title.

  3. Senior Analytics Engineer

    I maintain the compra inteligente pipeline — the core data process behind MAR's main product.

    I became the central contact for that system. The team can read the BigQuery procedure, understand the business rules, and ship changes without depending on one person's memory of a PySpark job.

    I'm comfortable at the technical level of this role. What I'm still building is product and business context — understanding how purchase suggestion affects the wider company, not just how the procedure runs.

How I refactored one of Grupo Boticário's

One of the clearest examples of my creativity—and the initiative to act on it

OneofGrupoBoticário'scorejobsranonarchitecturebuiltforcomplexity—andperformancebottlenecks.Teamchurnturnedanalreadyhard-to-readpipelineintotheelephantintheroom:nobodycouldexplainthebusinessrules,nobodycoulddebugwithconfidence.Technicaldebtgrewuntileverynewrequestfeltlikeamarathon.

Iwasputonthatpipelinetoshipnewfeatures.Ilearnedtherulesbehindit—andwhythecompanydependedonit.

Afterenoughdebugsessions,thepicturewasclear:wewereusingabazookatokillanant.Overheadwaseverywhere,andjustpreparingadevenvironmentcouldeathours.

Onmyowninitiative—notbecauseanyoneasked—Irebuiltthejobtorunlocallyonasliceofdata.Itranslatedlogiclockedinacomplexframeworkintosomethingthewholeteamcouldread.Theprototypeworkedsowellthatproductionwastheobviousnextstep.

Webuiltaproofofconcept,realizedwehadagoldmine,andspenttwomonthsrefiningitforaconsistentrollout.

Threemonthslater,itwaslive.Afterafewdaysinproduction:~99%lowercost,~5-minuteruntime,andapipelinetheentireteamcanmaintain.
